Still Lives: Jennifer Allevato
Sat, March 10–Sun, April 29, 2018
Mansion at Strathmore
Inspired by Postimpressionism, with a focus on color and line over realism, Jennifer Allevato invites you to escape into her charming floral still lifes, tablescapes, and interiors. The work is done in pastel hues with gestural pencil marks still in place, offering a window into the artist’s process. As a nod to her background in costume design, Allevato sometimes layers vintage clothing patterns into her paintings, using a lighter hand to allow the text to peek through. With decadent desserts, lush bouquets, or something as simple as a well-placed chair, prepare to be lured into Allevato’s dreamy world of color, gesture, and delight.
