Expanding Access to the Arts
At Strathmore, we believe the arts are essential. We champion the power of shared artistic experiences to help us connect, empathize, and grow.
Bloom captures the essence of Strathmore’s role in the community—helping the arts thrive and making sure that everyone has a chance to experience them. We do this by providing free and low-cost events, extending our resources throughout the county, and collaborating with partners who make an impact.
In Action Our Programs
Bloom programs are designed with the specific intention of facilitating access to the arts beyond our campus. 70% of Bloom programs take place out in our community, and nearly all include creative partnerships with local organizations, schools, and artists.

Bloom History
Arts access has been an intentional and important part of Strathmore’s mission since its founding. Many programs, such as Live from the Lawn concerts and Strathmore Student Concerts for all 2nd & 5th graders, have been in place for many years. In 2016, we expanded our commitment to taking the arts beyond our walls, particularly in the eastern part of Montgomery County – we briefly called that expansion the “East County Initiative.” As community programming and school initiatives grew, we decided to create an umbrella for all of our work specifically focused on facilitating participation in the arts, and Bloom was born.
Bloom by Strathmore is made possible in part through support from the following institutions and funds:

Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County
Capital One Services Inc., LLC
