The President's Own
U.S. Marine Band Gala Concert
The US Marine Band, Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, and Choral Arts Society of Washington celebrate the 200th anniversary of the great American poet, author, and patriot, Walt Whitman. His language was one of praise as he observed and elevated common experiences around him as defining elements of the American experience. Silent Moves the Symphony True by American composer Dominick Diorio makes its world premiere as a newly commissioned piece highlighting Whitman’s work. The program also includes Hector Berlioz’s monumental Symphonie funébre et triumphale and other substantial works that serve as anthems in their own interesting ways.
Tickets go on sale February 11.
