The Glass Effect
Meijer has been passionate about broadening the possibilities of the harp since she started playing at the age of nine. Her groundbreaking renditions of Philip Glass’ music mesmerize audiences around the world, including at Carnegie Hall, where she celebrated the composer’s 80th birthday. After her partnership with Glass led to brilliant collaborations with Iggy Pop, Laurie Anderson, and Sufjan Stevens, we can’t wait to hear pieces from her latest album of Glass’ compositions, The Glass Effect, performed live alongside other repertoire.
- Meijer loves to experiment with jazz, rock, electronica, and theatrical music, in addition to using a boom box and sampled vocal tracks in her arrangements.
- She performs pieces by Radiohead in classical venues to much artistic and critical acclaim and commercial success.
- Based in the Netherlands, Meijer is the only classical artist to hit the top 10 in the Dutch rock album charts with three consecutive albums.
