Just Call Me God
Starring John Malkovich
Please note the new show date of April 26, 2018.
John Malkovich may be best known for appearing in more than 70 films, from Places in the Heart to Con Air to Being John Malkovich. Most recently, the actor has garnered rave reviews for his sold-out performances in Michael Sturminger’s Just Call Me God at London’s Barbican Centre. The musical drama features Malkovich and powerful organ music by Bach, Liszt, and others; his words as a megalomaniacal dictator are countered by the powerful response of music most sublime. It’s a journey exploring tyranny in the raw, where power corrupts absolutely.
- The show, billed as “the last speech of a dictator,” is a collaboration between Malkovich, Austrian director/dramatist Michael Sturminger, and organist and conductor Martin Haselböck.
- Malkovich plays Satur Diman Cha, Head of State of the Republic of Circassia, a notorious dictator who has gone underground after losing his power.
- Malkovich made his feature film debut—and received his first Academy Award nomination—in 1984’s Places in the Heart.
