Arts Can't Be Contained
Bloom is more than an initiative, it’s an ecosystem. It’s an unrelenting belief in the power of the arts and a fierce conviction that each of us deserves access to them.
Strathmore is dedicated to helping the arts to thrive in our community. That means venturing beyond our campus to both create and support inspiring programs that serve our neighbors in schools, community centers, parks, retirement communities, and anywhere else people gather. Read on to learn about educational programs and performance opportunities happening throughout our county.
East County Strings
A regional, tuition-free afterschool music program for string players at 9 middle schools (up to 120 students), coordinated by the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras of Strathmore. The 6-week program takes place in March and April at each school, and culminates in a local Gala Community Concert at Paint Branch High School. Accomplished professional string musicians teach the classes, train the students, and perform with the orchestra.
Amplify US! Performances
In May, participants in Amplify US! workshops told their personal stories through storytelling, slam poetry, hip-hop, and visual arts. Audiences experienced funny, dramatic, and heart- wrenching moments from participants’ lives through short performances and pop-up art exhibits.
This event is supported by Arts on the Block, Arts Midwest, Story Tapestries, Impact Silver Spring, Montgomery County Public Libraries, Montgomery County Media, and Friends of the Library.
Support Arts For Everyone
We rely on charitable gifts from individuals to sustain and expand our visual and performing arts experiences and arts education programs. Your gift will foster incredible social impact by allowing Strathmore to remain a strong and vibrant resource in your community.
