As Strathmore's resident dance partner, CityDance is a recognized arts and education leader, offering performances and dance education for children, youth and adults at CityDance Center at Strathmore. Founded in 1996, CityDance’s mission is to advance the appreciation for and participation in dance education and performance by reaching out to the community, into the studio and onto the professional stage.
CityDance Center at Strathmore is committed to providing dancers of all ages and abilities with the highest quality dance education while cultivating a diverse community of dancers, educators and dance enthusiasts. A faculty of highly trained master instructors teach classes in such genres as contemporary, ballet, modern, jazz and hip hop.
The CityDance Conservatory program prepares talented students ages 13-18 for careers in dance—whether it be on the concert stage, in commercial work, or as entry into a college dance program. This audition-only, pre-professional program is unique to the region and provides students with technical training and performance opportunities.
The CityDance Resident & Guest Artist Program provides talented professional dancers and choreographers with the opportunity to create and perform original works in the CityDance Studio Theater at Strathmore, a professional grade dance studio-by-day and a state-of-the-art theater-by-night. The CityDance Professional Artist Series presents these artists and creates opportunities for professional development and educational exchange between the resident/guest artists and students from CityDance Center.
