In the Brazilian state of Bahia, Carnaval turns society on its head in a joyful celebration of a utopian world where all are equal and class distinctions disappear. Carnaval is just one of the customs brought vividly to life on stage by this award-winning company, rooted in the traditional forms of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. You’ll be swept away by spirits in ancient Afro-Brazilian ceremonial dances and (figuratively) knocked out by the martial arts-styled capoeira.
