Philharmonic Opera A tale of true love, ordeals of fire and water, a silly birdcatcher and an all-knowing wizard. Armed only with a magic flute, the stalwart prince, International Operalia triple-prizewinner Israel Lozano, rescues the princess, Esther Heideman, who made her Met debut in this role—"think: Beverly Sills" (The New York Times). Naumberg competition prizewinner Leon Williams enacts the clownish Papageno and Amy Hansen, recently heard at New Year's Eve at the Kennedy Center, is the commanding Queen of the Night.
