Angel Gil-Ordóñez, music director Joseph Horowitz, artistic director
More than an orchestra, this extraordinary ensemble regularly incorporates folk song, dance, film, poetry, and commentary in their performances. In their first children’s program, they poke in creatures’ caves and charms sinuous snakes, with music from the shrieks and howls of Henry Cowell’s The Banshee to Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals. This may be the only classical concert you’ll ever see that features a real, live, boa constrictor! Bring the kids in their Halloween costumes to add to the fun!
Recommended for children ages 6 and up.
This performance will last 75 minutes with no intermission.
Listen and learn! Learn more about how the music is made in a free, family-friendly post-concert Q&A session with Post-Classical Ensemble founders Angel Gil-Ordóñez and Joseph Horowitz, moderated by Strathmore President and CEO Eliot Pfanstiehl.
