Inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us, this performance highlights the radiant colors of honored American composer Aaron Jay Kernis’ Newly Drawn Sky, a lyrical reflection of an ocean side memory with his children, along with his Lament and Prayer that will “play on [your] heartstrings with considerable effect” (New York Times). Maestra Alsop also leads Beethoven’s beloved “Pastoral” Symphony, an idyllic expression of nature.
