MENDELSSOHN Hebrides Overture BRAHMS Violin Concerto DVORAK Symphony No. 8
Join the National Philharmonic for a program of great masterpieces from the Romantic Era including Brahm’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, performed by violinist Cho-Liang Lin. Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, inspired by a cavern known as Fingal’s Cave (on the Hebrides archipelago, off the coast of Scotland), opens the program. Dvorák’s Symphony No. 8, which competes for popularity with his “New World Symphony”, provides the triumphant finale.
