ROSSINI, Overture to The Barber of Seville MENDELSSOHN, Violin Concerto BEETHOVEN, Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral”
Soovin Kim debuts with the National Philharmonic playing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. The overture from Rossini’s hugely popular opera The Barber of Seville (to be performed by the National Philharmonic in its entirety on May 5th) sets the concert in motion. In a delightful welcome to spring, the program concludes with the pastoral sounds of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6. “Soovin Kim is a violinist of such astonishing technique that there are times during the most difficult of passages that he gives the impression he could be playing just as securely an octave higher, twice as fast or three times as soft. He makes it all sound easy.” —The Philadelphia Inquirer
