Over the course of her 25-year career, Susan Werner has earned a reputation as “one of the most innovative songwriters working today,” according to the Chicago Tribune. Armed with impressive skills on guitar and piano, along with a graduate degree in voice performance, her performances serve as a one-woman master class in musicianship.

Best known as an acoustic songwriter who emerged from coffeehouses and folk festivals, the Chicago-based musician has showcased her versatility by writing songs in the style of Gershwin and Cole Porter, gospel music, traditional Cuban son, and New Orleans junk piano.

In 2014, she composed the music and lyrics for the musical theater score of Bull Durham, The Musical (MGM). Her songs have been recorded by such notable artists like Tom Jones, Michael Feinstein, and Shemekia Copeland. Her latest recording of original works, The Birds of Florida, took flight in 2022.
