MCYO is excited to announce our 2nd season of Summer Winds and Percussion!
Current middle school band students will reinforce ensemble skills, refine fundamental performing skills, and make friends with musicians across the county under the direction of Andrea Cameron (Band Director and Concert Orchestra Conductor) and Scott Cameron (Director of Tuba Euphonium Ensemble).
CAMP INCLUDES
- Band ensemble rehearsals led by Directors Andrea and Scott Cameron
- Technique sessions focusing on fundamentals
- Skill building, ensemble playing practice, and tips
- Study of recent band arrangements (Grade levels: 1.5 to 2.5) with an emphasis on works by under-represented composers
- Preparation for MCYO auditions in August
MUSICIAN REQUIREMENTS

Open to students who play traditional concert band instruments currently in grades 6-8 and have participated in a school program in the last school year.

Participants must have taken one year of daily music class on their own instrument.

Private lessons are not required for this camp.

Musicians must be able to read music and feel comfortable sightreading independent parts within an ensemble setting.

Musicians must bring their own instrument and music stand.
AUDITION INFO
- Current MCYO Musicians, no audition is required.
- Non-MCYO musicians applying on Flute, Alto Saxopone and Percussion will need to upload a video audition with their application.
- Non-MCYO musicians applying on Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, Tenor Saxophone, and Baritone Saxophone can either 1) upload an audition video or 2) submit a letter of recommendation from their Band Director.
- The video should include a solo piece of the student’s choice, which can be from the school method book. Professional recording not necessary; home recording accepted. No accompaniment required. Please see the Application form below for the video upload link.
Cancellation Policy:
Application fees are non-refundable
Two-weeks before the start of camp (until June 16, 2026): $50 refund
Less than two weeks (starting June 17, 2026): No refund
