MCYO is excited to announce Summer Strings Week!
Summer Strings Week is geared towards enhancing students’ musicianship and technical abilities! Fun repertoire will be studied and performed under the direction of Maestro Elizabeth Peterson and Seth Castleton! Musicians will learn performance, ear-training, collaborative, and compositional skills, and so much more!
Ensemble repertoire and workshop content will be brand-new, so musicians from past summer camps are welcome to return!
CAMP INCLUDES
- Daily string ensemble rehearsals & sectionals
- Music Electives such as Alexander Technique and Body Percussion
- Composition Lab focusing on music writing, theory, and ear training
- Masterclasses and performance opportunities
- Recreational time (outdoor weather permitting)
JUNIOR GROUP MUSICIAN REQUIREMENTS
- Students must be entering grades 3–6 in the fall.
- Participants must have taken private lessons for 2-3 years for Violin, 2 years for Viola and Cello, and 1 year for Bass.
- All musicians must be able to read music.
- Musicians must bring their own instrument and music stand.
- Musicians must bring their own bagged lunch, snacks, and beverages (no refrigeration available).
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
- Current MCYO musicians, no audition is required.
- Non-MCYO musicians will need to submit a video audition with their application.
- The video should include one scale and one solo piece of the student’s choice. Professional recording not necessary; home recording accepted. Please see the Application below for the link to upload the video.
Cancellation Policy:
Application fees are non-refundable
One month or more from the start of camp (until June 15, 2026): $700 refund
Two weeks (between June 16 and June 29, 2026): $525 refund
Less than two weeks (starting June 30, 2026): No refund
