MCYO is excited to announce our Summer Winds and Percussion!

Current middle school band students will reinforce ensemble skills, refine fundamental performing skills, and make friends with musicians across the county under the direction of Concert Orchestra Conductor Andrea Cameron and Band Director Scott Cameron.

CAMP INCLUDES

Band ensemble rehearsals led by Directors Andrea and Scott Cameron
Technique sessions focusing on fundamentals
Skill building and ensemble playing practice and tips
 Study of recent band arrangements (Grade levels: 1.5 to 2.5) with an emphasis on works by under-represented composers
 Preparation for MCYO auditions in August 2025

MUSICIAN REQUIREMENTS

Students must be entering Grades 7-9 in the Fall of 2025
Participants must have taken one year of daily music class on their own instrument.
Private lessons are not required for this camp
No audition is required for current MCYO musicians. Non-MCYO musicians will need to submit a video audition with their application using the Dropbox link below. The video should include a solo piece of the student’s choice. It does not have to be a professional recording—a home recording is perfectly fine. No accompaniment required. The musical selection can be from the school method book.
All musicians must be able to read music.
Musicians must bring their own instrument and music stand.

Audition Video (Non-MCYO Musicians Only)

If the student did not participate in MCYO this season, an audition video is required. The video should include a SOLO PIECE without piano accompaniment. The musical selection can be from the school method book. Musicians will be placed in the appropriate classes according to their level.
