(North Bethesda, MD) – Beginning July 17, 2021, as part of its Bloom initiative, Strathmore will present a series of nine free outdoor concerts, three at the Gudelsky Gazebo on Strathmore’s campus in North Bethesda and six at Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center in Silver Spring. Performances will feature Strathmore Artists in Residence (AIR) as well as a series of other talented regional and national artists.

Shows are free; however, RSVPs are requested to help manage capacity.

Guests are encouraged to bring refreshments, chairs, and/or blankets.

Bloom at Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center

Each show begins at 5pm and is 60 minutes in length.

July 17, 2021 - Josanne Francis – Born and raised in the twin-island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Francis is an internationally known steelpan performer and music educator.

July 31, 2021 - Be Steadwell – Steadwell blends genres with “queerpop” and redefines the love song in a modern context, with jazz, a cappella, and folk roots.

August 14, 2021 - Lucas Ashby – A Brazilian-American multi-instrumentalist, Ashby has molded his work as a percussionist for world-renowned groups to a variety of genres including Afrofunk, jazz, Brazilian guitar, and Ghanaian highlife.

August 28, 2021 - Seán Heely – Heely’s fiddle takes you on a journey through Scotland, Ireland, and America as he embraces the rich traditions of Celtic music.

September 11, 2021AYO – AYO’s smooth pop vocals combined with her fearless, confident lyrics create music with empowering messages that showcase her stylistic and emotional versatility.

October 9, 2021 - Christylez Bacon – Bacon is a Grammy-nominated progressive hip-hop artist and multi-instrumentalist from Southeast Washington, DC.

Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center is located at 14715 Good Hope Rd, Silver Spring, MD, about five miles north of the Capital Beltway and immediately adjacent to a bus stop for Montgomery County Ride On Route 39.

Each show begins at 7pm and is 75–90 minutes in length.

August 18, 2021 - Cissa Paz – Paz’s style is a unique blend of regional Northeast Brazilian styles—including forró, samba, and maracatu—with a twist of jazz, funk, and soul. She combines her musical passions that celebrate her Brazilian African-indigenous roots.

August 25, 2021 - Striking Matches – Sarah Zimmermann and Justin Davis’ music has been described as, “that sweet spot at the intersection of country, rock, and blues.” Their songs have been featured on TV shows like Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, and Monday Night Football.

September 1, 2021 - Lisa Liu Gypsy Jazz Quartet – Gypsy jazz guitarist Liu and her band bring their set of standards and original compositions that highlight the classic Parisian swing style and gypsy jazz.
