(North Bethesda, MD)- See the 30th Annual Strathmore Juried Exhibition Touch, on view now through Saturday October 30, 2021, in the Mansion at Strathmore. More than 50 artists in this exhibition focus on the senses and meanings behind our instincts to reach out and touch one another.

“After maintaining distance for much of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we all wish for an embrace or a familiar hand on our shoulder,” said Lesley Lundgren, Director of Exhibitions at Strathmore. “Acts of kindness often begin with one human, lifting another human, offering physical support along with practical aid. The pieces in the exhibition depict this need as well as other experiences surrounding the sense of touch.”

Touch includes tactile textures encountered with fingertips and senses felt by degree, including temperature and pressure. In addition, the exhibition explores emotional sensations producing tears, goosebumps, and laughter. This year’s theme, in celebration and in sympathy, is in tribute to the art of touch as an expression of care and comfort.

Artists are:  Cathy Abramson, Tim Aley, Esperanza Alzona, Nancy Arons, Tracy Barwick, Susan Bikoff, Michaela Borghese, Judy Buelow, Julie Byrne, Sally Canzoneri, Elizabeth Casquiero, Pearl Chang, Jingjing Chen, Rick Clement, Holly Cole, Maria Collins, Roy Comiskey, Chris Combs, Brian Feldman, Richardene Forrest-Thweatt, Barbara Frank, Jenne Glover, Robin Harris, Virginia Hughes, Mikhail Ilin, Nancy Jakubowski, Anna Kekesi-Kim, Alan Kolnik, Leslie M. Kraff, Malka Kutnick, Deborah LaCroix, Liz Aukamp LaGarde, Caroline Lewis, Cindi Lewis, Catherine Liddle, Marla McLean, Karen Merkin, Neha Misra, Meredith Morris, Al Neyman, Simin Parvaz, Dora Patin, Debra Perkins, Yolanda Prinsloo, Audrey Rothstein, William Seelig, Laurie Madsen Snarr, Pritha Srinivasan, Carol Starr, Linda Syverson Guild, James Terrell, Nimi Trehan, Vidya Vijayasekharan, Richard Weiblinger, Lis Zadravec, and Paula Zeller
