Lorelei Ensemble Members Standing In A Barn With String Lights Behind Them

Heralded for its “white-hot intensity” (The New York Times) and “stunning precision of harmony” (Gramophone), the Grammy-nominated Lorelei Ensemble is celebrated for inventive programs that showcase the extraordinary power of the human voice. Led by founder and artistic director Beth Willer, Lorelei has commissioned over 70 new works, building a living repertoire that expands the possibilities of women’s and treble voices.

In Frost and Fire, the ensemble explores themes of solstice and advent—seasons of stillness and waiting. The program features world premiere arrangements of traditional tunes by Laura Jobin-Acosta, Greg Brown, and Jocelyn Hagen, plus new work by rising women, trans, and nonbinary composers. Medieval chant, early Renaissance polyphony, and American folk songs, hymnody, and contemporary works round out the evening.
