Dublin Guitar Quartet Wearing Suits And Holding Their Instruments While Sitting On A Futon

Described as a "quartet with a difference" by The Irish Times, Dublin Guitar Quartet (DGQ) is the first classical guitar quartet entirely devoted to 20th and 21st-century repertoire. Since its formation at the Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama, the DGQ has worked to expand the limited repertoire by commissioning new works and adapting contemporary works from outside of the guitar world, becoming a genre-defying ensemble known for turning classical guitars into powerful vehicles for today’s boldest compositions. The quartet brings the works of Philip Glass and other modern masters to life through the rich textures of four classical guitars.

Fusing precision with passion, their performances are an immersive journey into minimalist soundscapes and rhythms, pushing the boundaries of what guitar music can be. From the pulsing beats of Reich or the haunting stillness of Pärt, their performance dazzles with energy and experimentation. Described as “mesmerizing” and “technically dazzling,” this quartet challenges classical conventions and captivates audiences around the globe.
