The Dorian Wind Quintet is known worldwide as one of chamber music’s preeminent and longest continuously active ensembles. The Quintet has performed in nearly all 50 states, Canada, and Europe, and throughout the Middle East, India, Africa, and Asia.
Since its founding at Tanglewood in 1961, the Quintet has collaborated with many of the most legendary artists in the world of classical music during the 20th and 21st centuries. To date, they are responsible for nearly 40 commissions from major composers, with their commission of George Perle’s Wind Quintet No. 4 winning the Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1986.
