Pianist and composer André Mehmari blends the traditions of his native Brazil with the improvisational spirit of jazz and elements of classical music. Featuring bassist Edward Perez and percussionist Rogerio Boccato, Mehmari presents original repertoire inspired by the natural world. After more than 25 years living in the lush Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest), the vibrant ecosystem along Brazil’s Atlantic coast continues to shape his artistic voice, influencing both his original compositions and his interpretations of works by Tom Jobim.
