SCC Our Voices Her Song By Arts Laureate Web Res

The Music Center at Strathmore

Act I features traditional classical works such as “Dravidian Dithyramb” by Victor Paranjoti, “Wau Bulan” arranged by Tracy Wong, and “Beau Soir” by Debussy Spevacek. Act II is a Broadway revue, as the singers go through a journey of learning when to listen, when to revolt, and when to raise their voices as they learn to find themselves and embrace who they are.

Starting with the late great Stephen Sondheim, our Broadway revue opens with an arrangement from the classic musical, Into the Woods. Throughout the concert, we hear tunes from Matilda that tie the story together with our younger groups who are figuring out who they are. This story is supported through selections from classics like Oliver, The Wiz, Sister Act II, and Peter Pan with contemporary features from Hamilton, Come From Away, and rounding out the concert from a beautiful selection from the hit movie-musical, The Greatest Showman.
