The songwriting process often starts with an idea or an emotion and ends with the expression of that idea or emotion through music. But how does one get from the beginning to the end? In this workshop, Christian Douglas illustrates how structure serves as a means to an end in a world of infinite musical destinations. You will get a glimpse into Douglas’ songwriting process and learn about how the basic structural elements of a song play a role in communication and storytelling. You will also get to step into the role of songwriter through a “choose your own adventure” style of collaborative composition. No musical or songwriting experience is necessary for this workshop.
