The global pandemic has not kept Strathmore Children’s Chorus (SCC) from forging ahead with virtual rehearsals, individual voice lessons, and performances. Art and music are at the heart of social and emotional health and well-being, and in that spirit, SCC presents songs that celebrate spring and the hope that 2021 brings. 

This concert includes an a cappella rendition of A Whole New World from Disney’s Aladdina poem written during the Spanish flu pandemic a century ago, Everyone Sang, set to music by contemporary composer Kile SmithDr. Barbara Baker’s arrangement of the gospel hymn The Storm Is Passing Over; and Stephen Rewarrangement of the Lowell Mason hymn How Can I Keep from Singing? 

SCC also presents music from Latin America with Ernani AguiarSalmo 150 from Brazil and Oscar GalianSalseo from Venezuela. They round out the program with Irving BerlinBlue Skies and Amy Feldon BernonHummingbird and Butterfly.
