Wammie Award winner and vocalist Cecily, along with her five-piece band, brings the energy, love, joy, freedom, and sensuality of the late ‘70s with hits by Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle and more.
Cecily’s critically acclaimed 2019 album, Awakening Pt. I, landed her first SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards nomination for Best Female Vocalist of the Year and an Indie Soul Music Award for Best Female Artist of the Year. Awakening Pt. I’s lead single, “Clumsy,” won a 2020 Wammie Award for Best Soul Song and had its music video premiere on BET Soul and BET.com, which praised the track’s “gorgeously sultry vocals.”
Her current album, Awakening Pt. II, releasing July 26, was directly inspired by Black Feminist writer bell hooks’ text All About Love and explores unconditional love and its transformative power. Going beyond the romantic, Cecily delves into what hooks calls a “love ethic,” with songs navigating familial love, self-love, divine love, and love of the Earth.
