The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra (ASO) is the largest performing arts nonprofit institution in Maryland’s capital city, Annapolis. The ASO is proud to serve as a cultural cornerstone of Anne Arundel County and the region. Under the direction of Maestro José-Luis Novo, the ASO is known for artistic excellence and commitment to connecting people through music.

Each season, the ASO’s programming highlights both the depth of the symphonic repertoire and the talents of its professional musicians. The orchestra regularly features world-renowned soloists and rising stars on its stage, mixing classical repertoire, music by new and emerging composers, and artistic collaborations that draw in audiences. This season the ASO will perform for thousands of audience members across Maryland, with concerts at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Dionne Warwick Theatre at Bowie State University, Quiet Waters Park in Anne Arundel County, The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore and other regional venues.

Beyond the concert hall, the ASO is deeply rooted in the community. Through education programs, family concerts, school partnerships, and free events, the orchestra provides meaningful musical experiences for children and adults alike, intentionally reaching audiences who might not otherwise have access to performances in a music hall. The Annapolis Symphony Academy (ASA) is integrally tied to this community work. Through a ground-breaking model centered on inclusion regardless of experience or financial circumstances, the ASA offers students ages pre-school to high school the opportunity to study and perform alongside ASO musicians through a program of ensembles and private lessons. The Academy’s Orion Youth Orchestra, directed by Maestro Novo, performs across the region and prepares students for success in music and beyond.
