Washington Wax Works
Sat, May 5–Sun, June 10, 2018
Washington Wax Works is a collective of six artists who use hot wax to encase, paint, embed, and collage elements on 2-D surfaces and sculptures. This transformative process, called encaustic, is an ancient one that pushes boundaries and fuses a myriad of styles together. The DC-based artists of the collective range from an architect and graphic designer to a former special education teacher and documentary filmmaker, and they pool their experiences to create rich, captivating work.
Artists: Kathleen Anderson, David Evans, Nancy Hacskaylo, Marty Ittner, Katie Dell Kaufman, and Kevin Milstead.
