Works on Paper

Feb 23–March 31, 2019
Mansion at Strathmore

From the earliest still life paintings to the golden age of specimen drawings, artists have excelled in capturing details of the natural world. Flora and fauna have adorned pottery, woodwork, and textiles. This spring, members of the Botanical Society of Washington and the local chapter of the Colored Pencil Society of America return to the Mansion at Strathmore to contemplate the appeal and fleeting qualities of plants and animals. Artists render leaves and life cycles on the most natural of surfaces: paper.
