Artists of varying years of practice join together as the Printmakers Inc. collective operating out of the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia. For over 35 years, Printmakers Inc. has shared workshop and gallery space, materials, and ideas as a part of their mission to educate the public about printmaking. From aquatint to xylography, the works in CTRL+P offer a look at the wide scope of printmaking as an art form. Prints examine interior and exterior space, question the nature of architecture, and call attention to the artists’ unique lines and markings. Unlike hitting “Ctrl+P” to print identical copies from a computer printer, CTRL+P redefines the word “print” for audiences unfamiliar with the breadth of possibilities that printing, as an art, offers. Acquaint yourself with printmaking styles and techniques through the lens of each artist on display.
Participating Artists: Veronica Barker-Barzel, Anne Buchal, Judith Coady, Avis Fleming, John Gosling, Alex Gray, Lara Huff, Edward McCluney, Norma Pfaff, Pat Sargent, and Priscilla Young.
