A Conversation with Wynton Marsalis
Hosted by Joi Brown & Seton Hawkins

This event is available to Strathmore Members and by invite only. Become a member now to get access.

You’re invited to join Wynton Marsalis—one of America’s most beloved advocates for culture and the arts in public life—for an intimate conversation hosted by Seton Hawkins, Director of Public Programs and Education Resources at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Strathmore’s Artistic Director Joi Brown.

This special event is an endcap to Strathmore’s Monuments: Creative Forces outdoor exhibition that celebrates artists whose work and artistic endeavors are changing the shape of our community in profound ways. Marsalis is an icon among artists speaking truth to power and this conversation is your opportunity to hear directly from Marsalis about his thoughts on jazz and the relationship between the arts, community, and democracy.

Please note, this event is limited to 50 devices (only one reservation per household is needed!) to allow for an intimate conversation with Marsalis and for participant questions to be answered. Register today to secure your spot!

In addition to this exclusive conversation, your ticket also includes access to a special virtual concert event on Thursday, October 29 in which Marsalis is joined by musicians from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) for a performance celebrating jazz’s embodiment of freedom and democracy and includes the premiere of Marsalis’ new composition The Democracy Suite. The Democracy Suite is a swinging and stimulating instrumental rumination on the issues that have recently dominated our lives as well as the beauty that could emerge from a collective effort to create a better future.
