Rachel Franklin, piano
with SONOS

Praised by The Baltimore Sun for “flawless crystalline technique, and warmth and electricity in her playing,” Franklin is an in-demand performer, lecturer, and teacher. Franklin has performed throughout Europe, Canada, and the US as a soloist and ensemble artist. She has been heard everywhere from the BBC to Ireland’s RTE to NPR’s Performance Today, where she’s known for spoken as well as musical broadcasts. Dedicated to outreach and education, Franklin has taught at the Peabody Conservatory and the Royal College of Music. She is joined by Christian Tremblay on the violin and Jonathan Miles Brown on the fretless bass for a program exploring Ravel, Gershwin, and others at work in Paris.

  • Franklin’s unique video blog, Speaking of Music, was launched with a grant by the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County.
  • An accomplished jazz pianist, Franklin performs with her own classical/jazz chamber ensemble, SONOS, which includes Christian Tremblay and Jonathan Miles Brown.
  • When she’s not making music, Franklin’s talking about it: she’s lectured at the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Associates program, and her film and music lecture series sold out at the Easton Academy Art Museum and the Chesapeake Film Festival.
