Invoke Concerts for Kids
Described as “not classical…but not not classical” (SiriusXM), Invoke brings genre-jumping string quartet music to the Mansion at Strathmore for two special, interactive shows just for kids.
Ideal for ages 6 and up. See our Strathmore Kids Tips.
10:15am Performance, Sensory-Friendly
The 10:15am performance, Azure, is sensory-friendly to create an experience that is welcoming to children with autism or sensory sensitivities. Azure is joyful and free of judgment, where movement, vocalizations, and reactions of all types are welcome. There is suitable space and a wide array of tactile fidgets. Download the performance guide.
Kids learn about the storytelling qualities of music, how instruments like the mandolin and banjo expand the sound of a traditional string quartet, and how we can mix our own compositions with famous works to create a new sound! Pieces include Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet (second movement), The Trace by Invoke, Alberto Ginastera’s String Quartet No. 1 (first movement), Souls in the Mud by Invoke, and more.
Invoke’s performances at Strathmore are part of a three-day residency that includes a Music in the Mansion concert on February 20, concerts in schools on February 21, and two concerts for kids on February 22. We are proud to work in partnership with teaching artists to pair public performances on our campus with programming directly in schools. Learn more about our program and community partners.
About Ideal Ages We list ideal ages for many Strathmore Kids events to help families navigate our offerings, but recognize that all children are unique and respond to experiences differently. We invite you to explore the information provided to determine if the event is a good fit for your family. We welcome movement and noise at this event with no shushing.
Everyone Needs a Ticket! All attendees, including accompanying adults, must have a ticket for this event to help us manage attendance and be sure we don't go over our maximum allowed capacity. Tickets for this program are not mailed; there will be a Will Call list at the door.
Free for 2 & Under Children 2 years old and under will be admitted to this program for free. If you plan to bring a child 2 years old or younger, please call our ticket office to reserve a special free ticket at 301.581.5100.
We rely on charitable gifts from individuals to sustain and expand our visual and performing arts experiences and arts education programs. Your gift will foster incredible social impact by allowing Strathmore to remain a strong and vibrant resource in your community.
