Heath Quartet
The Telegraph calls the “delicate perfection” of their sound “a marvel,” with “an exquisite tenderness,” and The Washington Post praises their “winsome blend of impetuosity and discipline.” This charismatic British ensemble has been steadily building a reputation for their upbeat and integrated sound on two continents. Winners of the 2016 Gramophone Chamber Award, this November they hop the pond to perform a rich program including works by Tippett and Britten, plus the US premiere of String Quartet by Scottish composer Helen Grime.
- Quartet leader Oliver Heath grew up in a musical family. He chose the violin because his brother played the piano and his sister the cello; he wanted something that was uniquely his.
- They are the first ensemble in 15 years to win the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artists Award.
- The members have a commitment to education and currently serve as professors at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
