Erin Harpe & The Delta Swingers

Erin Harpe pulls together a number of classic elements: sultry singing, high-energy jams, and fingerpicking she learned from blues legends like Memphis Minnie and Eleanor Ellis. From her blues-drenched childhood (her artist/musician dad Neil Harpe was a mainstay at Archie’s Barbershop in DC; she grew up at the feet of Archie Edwards, John Cephas, Phil Wiggins, and John Jackson) to her tenure as lead singer for the funky roots-rock ensemble known as the Delta Swingers, Harpe fronts the next generation of blues-keepers, intent on bringing this majestic music to the masses.

This event is standing room only.

  • A native of Annapolis, Harpe is currently based in Boston where she sings the Delta blues.
  • Harpe and her band have opened for dozens of artists, including members of Boston, Aerosmith, and The J. Geils Band.
  • Want to learn to fingerpick like Harpe? She’s made two blues-centric instructional DVDs.
  • Erin Harpe is recognized along with Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Shemekia Copeland, Rory Block, and Ana Popovic in 2013’s “30 Woman Burning Up the Blues” in The Alternate Route Magazine.

This performance is part of Strathmore’s Shades of Blues festival. Check out the full line-up.
