Calligraphy Techniques for Teens & Adults

10am–12:30 pm

Explore the world of calligraphy! In this workshop, participants will:

• Receive a guided tour of the current exhibition​
• View examples of calligraphy in English, Chinese, and Arabic and the tools used to write them.
​• Select advanced techniques from the current exhibition and receive guidance on how they are done.

Pens provided, but if you have a favorite set of pens, you are welcome to bring them.

For ages 13 & up. No experience is required. Snacks provided.

Nahid Tootoonchi is an Iranian American graphic designer and educator. She has worked as an senior designer and art director for institutions such as Kaiser Permanente, National Geographic, and the Nature Conservancy. She is an Associate professor and co-coordinator of the graphic design program at Towson University. Tootoonchi’s research focus is the graphic design of Iran, particularly its style and subject matter, and the approach to this technologically fast-moving discipline. Tootoonchi has curated Beneath the Surface; Poster Exhibition from Iran, and has also written and lectured nationally and internationally.
