Pianist Conrad Tao returns to the BSO to perform Liszt’s breathtaking First Piano Concerto. Conductor Mario Venzago leads the Orchestra in two of Berlioz’s dazzling overtures, Le corsaire and Le carnival romain, capturing the colors and excitement of the Carnival season in Rome. The program also includes two of Ravel’s favorite showpieces, Rhapsodie espagnole, which ranges from sultry evocations of Spanish nights to vivid daylight fiestas, and the hypnotic Bolero, a kaleidoscope of different orchestral colors that build to a thrilling conclusion.
