Bill Murray, Jan Vogler & Friends
New Worlds

Bill Murray, actor, vocals
Jan Vogler, cello
Mira Wang, violin
Vanessa Perez, piano

Acclaimed actor Murray teams up with internationally renowned cellist Vogler for this fascinating program that showcases core American values in literature and music. Twain, Hemingway, Whitman, Cooper, Bernstein, Gershwin, and Foster were some of the strongest voices to influence generations in America and gave the world a picture of the charm, energy, and creative force of the New World. As a singer and narrator, Murray brings his wit and charm to classic songs, prose, and poetry in dialogue with Vogler’s transfixing Stradivari cello, joined by violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez.

  • Murray and Vogler met during their travels and became friends in New York. Curious about each other’s artistic world and interests, the actor and the cellist soon had the idea to work together on a project.
  • In 2017, Murray and Vogler’s idea for a joint program celebrated its premiere at the Dresden Music Festival.
  • Bill Murray was the recipient of the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2017.
