Artist in Residence Workshop:
Finding the Groove in Your Songwriting
with Drew Kid
Sponsored by Myra Turoff and Ken Weiner
A groove isn’t just what makes you move, it’s how the rhythm section of a band—specifically keys, bass, and drums—work together to form the orchestration and arrangement building blocks of a song. In this master class-style workshop, aspiring arrangers, composers, and songwriters will leave empowered after analyzing works from the best architects of soul, funk, and hip-hop. Using examples from Junie Morrison, Sly Stone, OutKast, and others, Drew Kid covers how composers can effectively articulate their vision and navigate competition within a band’s rhythm section.
Free, but registration is required.
