Metro Arts Walk Project
A partnership between WMATA, Strathmore,
and Montgomery County Public Schools
Do you take metro to Strathmore? If so, your commute is now a lot more interesting!
Strathmore partnered with Metro and MCPS to bring beautiful new student-made art installations to the walkway between the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station and the venue.
The final 39 totems are composed of sculptural clay elements, each created by upper level MCPS high school art students. Students come from 16 of 25 MCPS schools representing all sectors of the county, where the project was included in the 2015-16 curriculum. These collaborative works were installed and officially unveiled in June 2016.
Dedicated to arts of all kinds, Strathmore is excited to be able to extend the arts experience for patrons even as they approach the Strathmore campus.
Commissioned by Strathmore and Montgomery County Public Schools in cooperation with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Arts in Transit Program, Office of Parking.
