What is scat? Explore and develop your skills in this most personal and creative of jazz singing styles! With Howard University Professor Connaitre Miller, explore the origins and techniques of scat, basic theory and the blues scale; then learn to hear chord changes in exercises for ear-training, develop a practical improvisation vocabulary and become an “active listener” familiar with the use of aural transcriptions. Some jazz singing experience recommended.
There will be a one hour midday break.
