Sol Gabetta, cello (BSO debut)
Composed in the shadow of the First World War, Elgar’s impassioned Cello Concerto stands as one of the very greatest in the repertoire. The commanding cellist Sol Gabetta makes her BSO debut in these concerts. England’s Daily Express raves, “She brings a fiery sensitivity to Elgar’s great concerto…playing reminiscent of the late Jacqueline du Pré…”
This concert will run approximately 110 minutes with intermission.
