Artist in Residence: Nate Foley, soul electric guitar Presented by Strathmore Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 7:30 PM Mansion
When Nate Foley plays soul guitar it’s hard to remember he’s a teenager: funk, blues, rock, soul, gospel, even jazz – the Blair High School and Levine School of Music student does it all. At seven he started playing guitar by ear; at eight he began formal lessons, and by age 12 he’d become his church’s guitarist. Nate composes music and plays locally with a four-piece jazz-funk band, and has performed at the Kennedy Center, Library of Congress, and the Apollo Theater. Nate was selected to participate in 2011 GRAMMY Camp in Los Angeles, and his debut Introducing Nathan Foley is available on iTunes.
As part of Strathmore's Artist in Residence program, Nate presents two public performances on March 7 and 28. Nate's March 28 performance will include the world premiere of a new work commissioned by Strathmore.
Congratulations to Nate on being named "Best New Artist" by the Washington Area Music Association!
