They’ve won five Grammy Awards (and the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award), performed for Presidents, and gigged with legends like Prince, Lou Reed, and Bonnie Raitt—now hear them live at Strathmore as they hit the road on tour for their new country-gospel album Take the High Road. “The fusion of the Blind Boys’ Deep South gospel with New Orleans funk, R&B and jazz creates a superweapon of roots-music uplift [and] will raise goosebumps even on the tatted-up arms of resolutely futurist hipsters” (Rolling Stone).
Nashville country and bluegrass performer/songwriter, Jim Lauderdale, whose songs have been recorded by artists from the Dixie Chicks to George Jones to Blake Shelton, opens.
This performance is scheduled to have a 30 minute opener, 20 minute intermission, 75-85 minutes by Blind Boys of Alabama. All running times are approximate.
