Joshua Bell and Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Presented by Strathmore Friday, April 13, 2012 at 8:00 PM Music Center at Strathmore
What can one say about an artist of the flawless technique and seemingly limitless virtuosity of violinist Joshua Bell? Gramophone Magazine puts it simply: “Bell is dazzling”—and never more so than in his appearances with the beloved Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, who just named him as its new Music Director to replace founder Sir Neville Marriner. Savor the artistry of these world-renowned musicians in this all-Beethoven program, which juxtaposes three works written around the same time but in vividly different moods: the dramatic Coriolan Overture, the monumental Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 61, and the buoyant Symphony No. 4 in B Flat Major, Op. 60. Program subject to change.
This concert will run approximately 100 minutes with intermission.
PLEASE NOTE: The seats available in the Choral Tier are behind the stage.
