Spirit of Uganda: A Project of Empower African Children Presented by Strathmore Friday, March 9, 2012 at 8:00 PM Music Center at Strathmore

This irresistible troupe of “young, proud and marvelously spirited musicians and dancers…send a message of courage and hope” (Village Voice). Gather friends and family for an inspiring celebration, full of life with bright, layered rhythms, dramatic choreography and gorgeous call-and-response vocals. Ambassadors for Uganda’s 2.4 million orphans, these children personify the promise of Africa’s next generation and raise funds to support themselves and others displaced in their homeland.

PLEASE NOTE: Metro will perform major track work over the weekend of March 9-11. The work will begin at 10 p.m. Friday and continue through system closing on Sunday. On the Red Line: Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between Dupont Circle and Van Ness. Two stations – Woodley Park and Cleveland Park – will be closed. Customers using shuttle bus service should build an extra 20 minutes into their travel plans.
