Tchaikovsky’s Fifth
featuring
Marin Alsop, conductor
Colin Currie, percussion |
From its funereal opening to the final triumphant march, the optimistic trajectory of Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony has secured its place as an enduring audience favorite. Opening the program, Copland’s famous fanfare earns a response in Joan Tower’s tribute to the adventurous women of our time. Superstar Colin Currie also brings to life the propulsive rhythms of Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto, winner of a 2010 Grammy Award. Catch this program before the BSO takes it on tour to the West Coast!
Attend a FREE pre-concert lecture with WETA’s David Ginder before every Classical Thursday event at Strathmore. Music Notes LIVE! begins at 7 pm. No reservations are required but capacity is limited, so patrons will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Click here for full details.
