Günther Herbig, conductor Tianwa Yang, violin
BSO favorite and one of the great conductors of our time, Günther Herbig, introduces young Taiwanese virtuoso Tianwa Yang who is making her BSO debut in Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1, a work of great inner beauty clothed in a passionate, fiery exterior. The program also features the exquisite fairy tale-based Mother Goose Suite by French composer Maurice Ravel and Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony that was creatively motivated by the death of Stalin.
