Written as a tribute to his mother, Brahms’ Requiem is considered his greatest vocal work. The evening also features Bernstein’s serene Chichester Psalms, based on texts from the Hebrew Bible, and the moving Alleluia by the late Washington composer and violinist Andreas Makris.
